Happy Father’s Day! Chuck
is such a great dad he got
to celebrate Father’s Day 2
Sundays in a row! How about
that?? In our family I am
known for doing odd and
weird things. It doesn’t
take much for me to
reinforce this concept.
Last Sunday, June 14th
I got up early, prepared
Chuck a delicious breakfast
and had a loving card for
him. I profusely wished him
a “Happy Father’s Day”. He
ate his meal, thanked me for
the card and we went to
church. About half way
through the service I
noticed on the announcement
page that Father’s Day was
the 21st! I
started to giggle and
realized maybe the elevator
didn’t go to the top after
all. Chuck mentioned later
he had kind of wondered why
the telephone hadn’t rung as
our kids always call first
thing in the morning
whenever there is a special
occasion. This morning he
settled for Honey Oat
Cheerios.
Summer has arrived and it
is glorious. It is so great
to sit outside in the
evenings and enjoy the
sounds of summer. Flower
gardens are in bloom all
around Edinburg. Rows of
beautiful green leaves are
growing fast in the
vegetable gardens. The
challenge is to keep those
“cute, little” deer out of
them.
The Trinity Church parking
lot is still a mess. We
have had lots of rainy
weather which has really
slowed down progress of
removing all the old asphalt
and then having it
re-paved. Hopefully the
weather will cooperate so
the project can be completed
this week. Mayo
Construction out of Cavalier
is doing the work.
The Crossroads Youth Group
(kids from Edinburg,
Mountain and Gardar)
returned last evening after
spending almost a week in St
Louis, MO. They went to
help with service projects
for those with needs. Other
church groups were going to
be there also. They looked
a bit tired when they got
off the bus last night, but
I am sure they had a great
time.
This past week, everything
in our household has become
a monumental task. Chuck
was told he will be on
crutches for another 4
weeks----it has been 4 weeks
already. I had surgery so I
am useless. We spend a lot
of time laughing because
nothing is easy to
accomplish. O, these
“golden” years.
The golf carts are a flyin’
around Edinburg now that the
weather has warmed up. I
don’t know how many are in
town, but it seems there are
lots. Chuck brought his
cart home from the golf
course, so now we park the
car, the truck and 2 golf
carts in the garage. Ruthie
has the fastest cart in
town. I kept up with her
yesterday when I drove
Chuck’s. His is gas powered
so I can really get some
speed with it. Real adult
like!!!
Everyone is on the go this
summer. Campers go by our
house as families head to
Renwick Dam and other places
to spend the weekends
relaxing. Louise and LeRoy
Pederson are up there often
as are Wayne and Barb
Brandvold and Steve and
Sheri Stabo. Fred and Faye
(Troftgruben) Kohlmeyer and
Hartley and Vonnie
Troftgruben are visiting in
Edinburg. Faye and
Hartley’s parents, Harold
and Lillian reside at the
Good Samaritan Home in Park
River. Dave and Loretta
Monson along with their
daughter, Katie and husband
Scott are in Washington DC
just having a good time.
They were planning a tour of
the city riding on Segways.
I am waiting to hear how
that went!
Sympathy goes out to Nancy
Johnson and family. Stanley
and Nancy have been living
in Fargo the last few
years. Stanley died this
past week and was buried at
Garfield Cemetery last
Thursday.
Congratulations to Vera and
Elroy Brandvold on their 40th
wedding anniversary. Also,
this is the weekend Jill
Kertz gets married to Adam
Wohl at Trinity. Love is in
the air.
